A traditional Durham boozer that prides itself on its top grub and relaxing atmosphere has reopened after a total overhaul.
The Stonebridge Inn, located off the A690, welcomed customers back in on Saturday (November 16) for the first time in two and a half weeks.
It shut up shop in late October for the renovation - which has seen everything from the floors to seating switched up.
Landlord David Burnside, who has been at the helm for a decade, explained that the refurb has been designed with the aim of bringing in new punters.
The 38-year old told The Northern Echo: "We've had a re-decorate on the outside with new signage and lighting. Inside, we ripped up all the flooring with new carpets, light fittings - everything really.
"We are a food led venue but we do show sports - we've even installed an electric dart board to entice people to come in.
"We want to make it more inclusive for everybody."
Pictures show a cosy black and white interior with pops of green. The pub has a statement fire place with exposed beams.
Reflecting on business, David said that the pub business has got harder in the last few years - pointing to the cost of the living crisis.
He said: "Trade has always been very good, but in the last few years with costs it is a lot harder. We are fortunate that we have a high turnover but margins with rising costs are smaller.
"It's harder than it was pre-covid."
As for what the future holds, David admitted he is "relieved" to have the renovation over and done with as he urged new customers to come down.
He added: "Now we're back open, I'm relieved. We pride ourselves on great service, quality food and drinks. We have such a nice chilled ambience in the pub.
"It's a relaxed place where you can come as a couple, or as a family and enjoy yourself.
"We have such a large site and can cater for all."
