A sign for a new restaurant has gone up at a former Indian in Darlington town centre.

The former Spices2 restaurant on Bondgate is set to be transformed with signage teasing a "new food sensation".

Although there is very little information on the new venture, the sign reads: "Darlo are you ready for the new food sensation?"

Pictures taken of the inside of the property show chairs, tables, boxes of furniture and tools on the floor.

The building has been the home of several restaurants over the years. Before Spices2, it was another Indian restaurant called Rose and Lime. That closed in September 2023, with signs for Spices2 going up shortly after.

The restaurant also used to be Scholars, an independent business, which closed in 2016. Scholars was one of the first restaurants in Darlington to offer a Sunday lunchtime service.
