A new stall hoping to entice pet owners with grain free snacks and accessories will open in Darlington's Indoor Market this week.

Jasper’s Tasty Treats, run by Ruth Middleton, will officially open for business on Friday, October 31.

Dog lover Ruth launched the business in memory of her late beagle Jasper, and after a surge in online sales is making the leap to open her very own stall.

As well as cat and dog treats, Ruth will also be offering a range of harnesses, collars, leads and dog walking bags after acquiring brand 'Pretty Paws'.

Ahead of the opening, Ruth said: "There was such a friendly, positive atmosphere when I first started trading here at the pop-up markets, it felt like the right place to put down roots.

"I’m looking forward to building a community around Jasper’s Tasty Treats and connecting with even more local dog lovers and other business owners within the market."

Following opening, Ruth is planning to host themed coffee mornings for pet owners, and install a pick ’n’ mix station for treats, to reduce packaging waste.

Michael Harvey, market manager at Darlington Market, said: "Ruth's business is a fantastic example of the kind of innovation and community spirit we want to encourage.

"Jasper’s Tasty Treats adds something completely different to our mix of traders and will no doubt be popular with our regular visitors."
