Last tickets remaining for final ever Lumiere Durham

There are now only five ticket slots remaining for the last edition of the light festival, which is the largest one in the county.

Earlier this month, it was revealed this year's festival, produced and curated by Artichoke, is to be the last, as North East Mayor Kim McGuinness demanded answers over the events end.

Durham County Council leader, Cllr Andrew Husband, said the decision to stop the festival began long before the local elections and his Reform group came to power.

Following the announcement of the multi-million pound festival ending, community groups have pleaded for continued funding to create new cultural events and build on the legacy of the popular festival.

The last few slots for the final ever Lumiere are still on sale, so if you have never been before and want to go, now is a good time to get your tickets before they sell out.

This year's event will run from Thursday, November 13 to Saturday, November 15.

The following slots are available to purchase tickets:

• Thursday 5-6pm
• Thursday 6-7pm
• Thursday 7-8pm
• Thursday 8-9pm
• Friday 8-9pm

Saturday is now completely sold out, as are the first three slots on Friday.

Attractions at the last Lumiere include:

• Heron - A softly luminous LED sculpture capturing a heron in mid-flight—its wings unfolding in a moment suspended between motion and stillness. It celebrates the beauty of nature within the cityscape and evokes a sense of quiet wonder. Location: Walkergate Riverside, Durham.
• Run Beyond - A large-scale light sculpture by Angelo Bonello composed of animated silhouettes lit via LEDs to simulate perpetual motion. It stages a man making an impossibly long jump metaphorically – asking viewers to imagine their own “jump” toward freedom, new horizons, and self-liberation. Location: Milburngate Riverside, Durham
• Entanglement Is Existential (II) - A 'warning' about the impact of climate change with pieces of literature from acclaimed authors such as Margaret Atwood. Location: Various sites around Durham.

Lumiere Durham is ticketed all night (between 5pm and 10pm). Durham County Council also stated that spectators can enjoy more than half of the artworks outside the central ticketed zone.

Lumiere began in 2009 and has attracted more than a million visitors to the city. It has also brought in £43 million for the local economy since it began.

It has also had a significant impact on the community, promoting positive change and benefiting the lives of 14,000 schoolchildren and people through its learning and participation programme.
