Police have branded an offender a "numpty" after finding a caravan full of rubbish ditched on a country road in Darlington.
Officers from Durham Police were driving on Neasham Road, towards Hurworth-on-Tees, earlier this week, when they found a caravan that had been left abandoned on the road.
After arriving at the scene, the police closed off the 60mph road and recovered the vehicle.
Following the incident, Durham police have issued a strong warning to those who attempt to do the same across the region.
Sharing images of the caravan on social media, the police force said: "To the numpty who thought leaving this was acceptable. Not only did you put other road users at risk, it was also our PCSOs who had to wait for the recovery.
"Next time you have a clear-out, please be a decent human being and dispose of it properly.
"Your skip on wheels does not belong on a busy 60mph road. Thank you to the member of the public who reported this, so action could be taken straight away."
In the images, police can be seen blocking the road, while others show the caravan piled full of rubbish and the vehicle being recovered on a low-loader.
