A Darlington beauty salon is celebrating a string of national accolades that highlight its commitment to excellence in both beauty services and education.
Libbie Mai Studios, on West Auckland Road, has earned recognition at two prestigious industry events, the National Hair and Beauty Awards (HBA) and the GB Beauty Awards, for its outstanding contributions to training and the wider beauty sector.

The salon, which doubles as an academy, is a well-known name among aspiring beauticians and beauty enthusiasts across the region.
Owner Libbie-Mai, 25, expressed pride in her team and students, crediting them for helping build the salon’s growing reputation.
“We got top 50 for Education Excellence, top 50 for Lash Stylist of the Year, and in the GB Beauty Awards, I won Brow Artist of the Year out of the whole of the UK,” she said.
“Also, Makeup Artist of the Year, Lash Artist of the Year and SPMU Artist of the Year in the North East.”
Libbie-Mai added that this year’s success was especially meaningful after narrowly missing out on placements in last year’s finals.
“I’ve only been teaching for three years now, so it’s quite good that we were in the top 50,” she said.

Operating four days a week as a training academy, Libbie Mai Studios offers hands-on courses for budding beauticians while continuing to serve clients with a full range of treatments, including nails, tanning, waxing, lashes, and brows.
“Personally, I don’t need new customers, but I know a lot of the start-up girls are looking to grow their client base,” Libbie-Mai said.
“Hopefully this recognition helps bring more people through the door and gives them the spotlight they deserve.”
