A three-month-old baby boy has died and a 22-year-old man is due in court in connection with his death.
Officers from Cleveland Police were called to a property in the Eston area of east Cleveland by North East Ambulance Service on Sunday (October 5).
The three-month-old was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle with what were described as life-threatening injuries, but Cleveland Police has today confirmed he has died.
A 22-year-old man was previously charged with with section 18 grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.
He entered a 'not guilty' plea when he appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Tuesday (October 7). He is next due in court in November.
A spokesperson for the force said: "A three-month-old baby boy has sadly died after emergency services were called to a property in Eston on Sunday (October 5).

"The baby was taken to hospital in a critical condition but sadly passed away. Our thoughts are with the family of the baby during this very difficult time.
"A 22-year-old man has been charged in connection and is currently remanded.
"The man is due to appear at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday, November 5."
