Clubbers packed out a Darlington dancefloor for the return of the daytime disco.

The over-30s event, held at The Gate, was the third daytime disco to be held in the town this year.

Craig Chisman, who brought the ‘Daytime Disco’ to Darlington, spoke to The Northern Echo about the appeal of daytime events before the disco.

He said: "These daytime clubbing events appeal to a very wide range of people who want to relive their youth. It is the single biggest shift in the clubbing industry in 30 years. These are phenomenally popular."

Pictures show a group of people having a ball of a time and dancing along to the biggest 80s, 90s & 00s dance floor fillers and more.

There were also lasers, glow sticks and even a 'no mobile phones rule'.

Craig, who is from Darlington and studied at Carmel College, has been playing since the 1980s and has held residencies in Ibiza and Mallorca.

He explained this was the second event held at The Gate: "Numbers were a little bit down in August because it was the wrong time of year. I think we picked the date when everyone was on holiday, but it is what it is."

And he revealed plans for his Christmas party, so if you were unable to make it to this one, you have another chance before the year is out.

He told the Echo: "We have a big Christmas party coming up with some great acts on. It is on December 13 and we are going to have live singers from the past, and then hopefully bigger things for next year."

You can keep up to date with the events on the Daytime Disco (Darlington) Facebook page.
