Arcadia Darlington has bar and music license approved

Arcadia, which will be based on Skinnergate, has had its licence approved after submitting an application to Darlington Borough Council earlier this year.

Taking to social media, the gaming hub said: "We want to keep everyone in the loop — we’ve had a few unavoidable delays in getting open. But don’t worry, this extra time has actually worked in our favour.

"We’re thrilled to announce that our bar and music license has been officially approved — with zero objections! This means you’ll be able to enjoy refreshing drinks and a vibrant atmosphere while exploring all the fun Arcadia has to offer."

The gaming centre, which will have racing simulators, retro games, and VR "egg" pods, is the brainchild of Andrew Hoggart.

The 31-year-old, who has run the Northallerton Computer Shop, on the town's High Street, for the last two years, spoke to The Northern Echo earlier this year about the venture.

He said: "Initially it was going to be in Northallerton.

"I already own a shop there but we couldn’t find a building big enough.

"So that stalled us for 12 months and then we heard about the regeneration in Darlington."

Andrew also teased what Arcadia would be like. He said: "It’s going to have a really jazzy theme.

"It will be an all inclusive place where everyone and anyone can come and enjoy themselves.

"It will be very bright with lots of colours. We have got UV lights and UV walls which will glow in the dark, and we have got spray paint artists doing full custom walls."

No opening date has yet to be announced for Arcadia, but it is hoping to open later this year.
