An award-winning County Durham restaurant owner has opened a second Asian cuisine venue in the same town.
Parvin Kumar, who runs Soami's Trio in Consett, has now opened Bao Asia on Newmarket Street in the town.
Mr Kumar, who has worked at several restaurants in the UK, including Spice Cube and Michelin Guide restaurant Haveli, opened the new venue on September 29.
He said: "This is more than just a new restaurant—it’s a dream coming to life.
"I am beyond excited to welcome guests into Bao Asia.

"For me, this isn’t just about food—it’s about creating an experience.
"Every dish carries my passion, precision, and persistence, shaped by over three decades in kitchens around the world."

Soami's Trio opened in 2021 and has won several accolades, including the Good Food Award and the British Curry Award and been named a TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice winner twice.

Mr Kumar is now hoping to build on his success with the opening of Bao Asia.
"Bao Asia is bold, vibrant, and full of fire, and I cannot wait to share it with you," he added.
Bao Asia will offer a range of different dishes, including dumplings, bao buns and wok creations.
