YOANE WISSA remains “on track” to return for Newcastle United after the next international break.
Wissa is yet to make his Magpies debut following his summer move from Brentford as he sustained a knee injury while on international duty with DR Congo last month.
The striker has been taking part in some light training this week, and is set to step up his recovery programme in the next seven days.
Newcastle’s medical staff remain hopeful he will be able to return to action by the end of the next international break, which could mean he is available for the trip to Brighton on October 18.
“I think we’re still on track for where we were, which is after this international break coming up,” said Newcastle boss Eddie Howe.
“He hasn’t trained on the grass yet, so we haven’t seen him as part of any team training. But at the moment, that’s still the schedule, we’ll wait and see.”

Howe also confirmed that Tino Livramento is set to be sidelined for up to eight weeks after suffering a knee injury of his own in last weekend’s defeat to Arsenal. Livramento has a serious injury, but he has not suffered ACL damage is expected to miss around ten matches.
“From yesterday [meeting with specialist], we think Tino will be roughly around six-to-eight weeks, which is probably positive from where we were after the game, thinking he might be months,” said Howe.
“We’re probably looking not at this international break, but maybe the next one, he could be back. It’s slightly more positive than we were initially fearing.”
