A Darlington phone shop was targeted by a thief who took items after smashing the front window.

Officers were called to Mobitech on High Row around 8.30am on Wednesday (September 24) after reports of a break-in.

Durham Police said items were stolen from the front window, which was smashed.

A hole was left in one of the glass panels on Wednesday, with a brick seen lying on the path outside.

Officers were seen working at the shop as an investigation was launched.

A police spokesperson said: "Police were called just before 8.30am on Wednesday (September 24) following reports of a break-in at a shop on High Row, in Darlington.

"The suspect is believed to have smashed the window of the store and stolen items from within.

"An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.
