Police in County Durham have seized a high-end Porsche after its driver attempted to collect his brother from prison without insurance.
The incident unfolded near HMP Frankland, one of the region’s high-security prisons, when roads policing officers stopped the luxury vehicle as it arrived at the gates.
Checks revealed the driver had no insurance policy in place.
The Porsche was seized on the spot, leaving the man unable to complete his planned prison pick-up.
Officers instead provided directions to the nearest bus and rail stations, ensuring the newly released individual had alternative travel options.

In a statement, alongside an image of the seized Porsche, Durham police's roads policing team said: "When coming to collect your brother on his release from Prison - ensure that you travel appropriately.
This vehicle was seized for no insurance, near HMP Frankland, and directions were given to all parties for both the bus and rail station."
The seizure comes as part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal motoring behaviour around the county, where uninsured driving, doctored number plates, and failure to stop incidents continue to be a concern, according to the police team.
