A national clothing chain looks set to open a new store in Darlington.

Footasylum is poised to be the latest brand to open inside the Cornmill Shopping Centre after job adverts were posted for the new location online.

The roles, which include assistant store manager and store supervisors, state that the “exciting” new store will open next month in the complex.

It is not known where the potential store could be located in the Cornmill, and an exact opening date remains unknown at this time.

Footasylum is known for selling a range of men, women, and children's clothing, with brands including Nike, Under Armour, Tommy Hilfiger, New Balance, and Calvin Klein.

The chain currently has four stores in the North East in Middlesbrough, Sunderland, Newcastle, and at the Metrocentre in Gateshead.

It also previously boasted a shop at Teesside Park, which closed down before being taken over by The Works in October 2022.

One of the job listings for the new Footasylum states: "We are hiring full-time sales assistants to join one of our exciting new stores opening next month based at Cornmill Shopping Centre, Priestgate, Darlington DL1 1LT.

"Please note: this is a new store opening in the shopping centre, you will join the business as soon as possible to undergo training, likely to take place in another nearby store.

"This is a full-time job, working 37.5 hours per week. The ideal candidate will be fully flexible Monday to Sunday."
