A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after the "unexplained" death of a baby, police said.
Paramedics rushed to a house on Thornaby Road in Thornaby in the early hours of Tuesday (September 16) and the baby was taken to hospital, where it died a short time later.
The baby’s death is currently being treated as unexplained, Cleveland Police said, and a 32-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect.
Police vans were seen parked outside of a terraced house on the street on Tuesday evening with an officer watching the scene.
The force said the incident is not linked to any others, after a two-year-old girl died in Thornaby on Saturday (September 13) and an eight-year-old died in Billingham on Monday (September 15).
The 32-year-old woman arrested has been bailed with conditions pending further enquiries.
North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) confirmed they dispatched two ambulance crews, one specialist paramedic, and one clinical team leader to Thornaby shortly after midnight, and were supported by the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS).
A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "In the early hours of Tuesday, officers received a call from the North East Ambulance Service regarding concerns for the welfare of a baby on Thornaby Road.
"The baby was taken to hospital but sadly passed away. The baby’s death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are currently ongoing.
"This is not being linked to any other incidents.

"A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of child neglect and she was bailed with conditions pending further enquiries."
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident at a private address in Thornaby, Stockton-on-Tees, at 12.13am on Tuesday 16 September.
"We dispatched two ambulance crews, one specialist paramedic, and one clinical team leader to the incident, supported by our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS)."
