A milkman has been left in hospital after his float crashed with a lorry on the A1(M) causing a fuel spill.
One lane of the motorway in County Durham was closed while emergency services rushed to the scene.
It happened at about 5.20am on the northbound side between junction 61 at Bowburn and 62 at Carville and caused delays into the morning rush hour.
The driver of the milk float was left with a cut to his head and taken to hospital.
The other driver is not thought to have been injured.
The lane was reopened by 8.15am, after both vehicles were recovered and the spillage was cleared.

A spokesperson for Durham police said: "We were called just after 5.20am to reports of a collision between a milk float and a HGV on the A1(M) Northbound between Junction 61 and 62.
"The driver of the milk float suffered a cut to his head and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The other driver is not thought to have been injured and both vehicles have since been recovered."
The North East Ambulance Service and National Highways has been contacted for comment.
