Acclaimed comedian Edy Hurst is set to bring his unique show blending history, humour and neurodivergence to a County Durham venue.

Edy Hurst’s Wonderfull Discoverie of Witches in the Countie of Himself will be performed at Durham Gala at 7.30pm on Friday 19th September.

The show explores the Lancashire Witches, personal identity, and Hurst’s experiences of neurodivergence, all wrapped in his signature absurd humour and storytelling.Edy Hurst is coming to the Durham Gala Edy Hurst is coming to the Durham Gala (Image: Andy Hollingworth)

Edy Hurst said: "What can audiences expect from the show?

"The story of my ancestry, the Lancashire Witches, and how the Vengaboys made a concept album travelling the globe out on tour this Autumn, and absolutely nothing else.

"Definitely nothing about receiving a late-stage ADHD diagnosis and the complicated feelings that come with that."

The show, commissioned by The Lowry as part of its 18-month Developed With artist programme, was supported by Arts Council England and the Attenborough Arts Centre.(Image: Andy Hollingworth)

It features Hurst emerging from a giant steaming cauldron, blending history with humour in a night described as introspective, relatable, and delightfully irreverent.

Antonia Beck, senior producer for artist development at The Lowry, said: "This new show is the epitome of Edy – innovative, brimming with ideas, fun, imaginative, and full of heart.

"We are so proud to have supported Edy and the development of this show and we can’t wait for audiences to experience it."
