Global retailer Urban Outfitters has opened a store at a North East shopping centre.

The fashion brand has officially opened its store at Metrocentre, Gateshead, as the shopping centre reaches record fashion sales for 2025.

Urban Outfitters is located in the Red Mall, joining other popular fashion retailers Zara, Mango, and Stradivarius, and features men's and women's clothing, accessories, and homeware.

Gavin Prior, centre director at Metrocentre, said: "Urban Outfitters is a fantastic addition to Metrocentre’s fashion line-up, giving shoppers access to one of the world’s most recognisable lifestyle brands.

"Metrocentre is proud to be the North East destination of choice for a number of major global brands, and where customers know they’ll find the latest styles all under one roof."

It is Urban Outfitter's first store opening of the year.

The addition of Urban Outfitters coincides with record fashion sales at the Metrocentre, driven by a 13.1 per cent uplift in womenswear sales in July compared to the same period in 2024.

Urban Outfitters will join Metrocentre’s long list of leading global retailers that have invested in the destination, such as Superdrug, which is upsizing its store in Red Mall, and Søstrene Grene, which will be opening its new unit in Lower Green Mall later this year.
