A man has admitted trying to murder a woman after he held her captive and forced her to swallow a quantity of paracetamol.
The 48-year-old also attempted to suffocate his victim during the attack on April 24 in Hartlepool.

Clint Thompson, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and attempted murder when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court last week.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries after officers were called to an address in the Hartlepool Marina area in the early hours of the morning.
Judge Jonathan Carroll adjourned the case until October 15 when he will return to the same court for sentence.
