A loveable Lurcher is looking for her forever home after being found wandering through a former County Durham mining village.
Edna the Lurcher was rescued by the RSPCA after a driver spotted her in Cornforth, near Durham, on June 23.
Edna, who is thought to be 12-years-old, was underweight, had matted fur, sore eyes and long claws when she was found by the charity. It is thought the dog may have been abandoned because she had no collar or microchip and was too frail to be able to run away from an owner.
Claire Hunt, the Felledge centre manager, said: "I'm delighted to report that Edna's condition is improving every day.
"When she came in to us, she was painfully thin and her teeth were in a very poor condition. She had some matting and there was discharge from her eyes.
"We don’t believe she would have been mobile enough to run away from an owner so we’re worried that she may have been abandoned. It’s a real shame because she is getting on and was poorly."
Thankfully, Edna is now on the road to recovery and is gaining weight and eating well.
Claire added: "Considering her age and the condition she was found in, she truly has a remarkable love for life.

"She's been spending a lot of time off-site with our volunteers and day fosterers, and she has loved being able to relax at home with them - she even plays with her own toys."
The centre is asking for anyone with information about Edna to get in touch.
Claire said: "What we really hope for is to help get her fit and well and begin looking for a nice little retirement home for her."
