KEEN walkers are being sought to help raise money for a vital water charity.
Organised by Stokesley Rotary, it will cover 60 miles in six days from Stokesley to Scarborough – but the walk has been broken down into daily sections allowing volunteers to do as much or as little as they want. The route has been divided into stages of 5-10 miles per day so people can join for half a day, one day or anything up to all six.
The walk will raise funds for Village Water to provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities for schools in Mozambique and Zambia. Money raised will establish sustainable water sources, hygiene programmes, and clean toilet facilities.
Those walking do not have to raise sponsorship, but there is an ambitious target of £12,000 so it is hoped everyone taking part will try to raise at least £100. A sponsorship form will be provided on registration, along with a more detailed explanation of the routes.
Registration form and terms and conditions can be found at bit.ly/rotarywalk4water and if anyone wants to collect money for Village Water but is unable to make the walk then the Rotary club can accept donations via the Just Giving Page at bit.ly/walk4waterdonations
The walk starts with a ten-mile stretch from Stokesley to Kildale on Saturday, September 6. Each of the subsequent days is also around the 10 mile mark, with Kildale to Danby on the Sunday, followed by Danby to Egton Bridge; Egton Bridge to Whitby Abbey; Whitby Abbey to Ravenscar and finally Ravenscar to Scarborough.
Anyone aged 16 or over can take part and there will be a fee of £10 per day or half day, up to a maximum of £30, so even if you join for all six you only pay £30.
