North Yorkshire Council has given the green light for a four-bed home empty since 2017 to be split in two.
One part will become a one-bedroom flat/maisonette, and the other will remain a four-plus bedroom house.
Full planning permission was granted on Wednesday (July 9) by North Yorkshire Council.
There will be no extension but a new access and parking area will be created with space for four cars and four bikes.
The renovations will also include internal refurbishments such as new kitchens, bathrooms, and utility spaces.
New roof tiles with solar cells inside will replace concrete ones and new windows and doors will be added.

A shared sewage treatment system will be installed, and the site will make use of a soakaway for the drainage of surface water.
Work must start in three years.
The application was submitted by Mr C.J. Chaytor, through his agent, Mr Andrew McRoyall of Savills (UK) Ltd.
