A boy of 12 was chased with a knife by teenagers in a North East park, before having his bike stolen, police said.

The alleged assault happened on Wednesday, June 18 between 7pm and 7.30pm in Summerhill Park, Hartlepool.

The boy was with a friend in the park when an older boy, thought to be about 14 or 15, barged into him.

The teenager then punched the boy and chased him with a butterfly knife before taking his bike and riding off on it.

Cleveland Police said: "We are appealing for information after teenagers have assaulted a 12-year-old boy in Summerhill Park, Hartlepool, before stealing his bike.

"The teenager was described as 14 or 15 years old, around 5’8” tall, skinny, with brown hair and wearing a light grey tracksuit. He was accompanied by a teenage girl."
