Police recover 145 cannabis plants from house in Seaham

Officers from Seaham Neighbourhood Police Team located and dismantled the large cannabis grow at a property on North Terrace, in the town, where the electricity supply appeared to have been tampered with, to provide free power for the operation.

The seizure and subsequent action was made possible thanks to information supplied to the police from members of the community with officers saying such support, “is making a real difference”.

It is the fifth cannabis grow discovered and shut down in Seaham so far this year.

They also cause significant damage to the properties housing the grow and are often linked to organised crime.

If members of the public spot signs of a potential grow, such as blacked-out windows, a strong smell of cannabis, or constant buzzing from ventilation systems, then they are asked to report it to police, using the 101 non-emergency line.
