Three alleged drink drivers were arrested within just hours of each other after a string of crashes across Teesside.
Cleveland Police was called to three crashes on Sunday (June 15) while carrying out patrols, the first on Earlsdon Avenue in Middlesbrough at 5.40pm.
There, police arrested a 44-year-old woman on suspicion of failing to stop and drink driving after she was believed to be more than six times over the legal limit.
Then at 11.10pm, a 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a vehicle collided with some roadside barriers on Normanby Road in Middlesbrough.
More than an hour later, a third person, a 48-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving by an off-duty officer on Windy Hill Lane in Marske following a two-vehicle crash.
All three people were charged and bailed to appear at court next month.
Sergeant Chris Lindsey said: “Drink driving is one of the fatal four road offences which contributes to a high proportion of deaths and serious injuries on our roads.
“Our officers work hard every day and night to keep our roads safe for all motorists and we will continue to target those who think it is acceptable to drive on our roads whilst over the limit.”
