A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a bike and a vehicle in Hartlepool. 

The crash happened at around 10.45am this morning (May 29) at Belle Vue Way, Hartlepool.

Police say the incident, involving the boy on a bike and a vehicle, happened between the Stag & Monkey roundabout and the Brenda Road roundabout.

The boy was taken to James Cook Hospital for further treatment.

A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "A teenage boy has been taken to James Cook University Hospital after a collision involving a boy on a pedal cycle and a vehicle on Belle Vue Way, Hartlepool.

"The incident happened around 10.45am this morning (May 29).

"The boy has now been taken to James Cook University Hospital via road ambulance.

"The road remains closed between the Stag & Monkey roundabout and the Brenda Road roundabout.

"Please use alternative routes whilst the road closure remains in place."
