A woman has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle crash in Billingham.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Marsh House Avenue and the A1185 at around 7.25am this morning (May 29).

The road was closed for around an hour to allow emergency services to work at the scene.

Cleveland Police have confirmed that the incident was between a Dacia and a Ford Focus and that a woman was taken to hospital with suspected leg injuries.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "A woman has been taken to hospital following a two-vehicle collision reported at 7.24am this morning (May 29) at the junction of Marsh House Avenue in Billingham, at the junction with Seal Sands, involving a Dacia and a Ford Focus.

"A woman suffered suspected leg injuries and has been taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.

"The road reopened around 8.30am."

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to a road traffic incident this morning (May 29) on Marsh House Avenue in Billingham at 7.37am.

"We dispatched two ambulance crews and one specialist paramedic to the incident.

"We assessed one patient who then made their own way to hospital."
