Police and fire crews remain on scene of a "large" fire at a County Durham Industrial Estate that is believed to be "suspicious".
Emergency services were called to Stanley at The Old Brickworks on Tanfield Lea Industrial Estate after reports of a fire at 2.43am on Thursday (May, 14).
Fire services worked through the night to tackle the blaze and currently remain on scene.
(Image: DAVE FINDLAY) Durham Constabulary confirmed the fire is being treated as suspicious and that emergency services are expected to remain at the site for some time.
Residents and businesses are urged to keep doors and windows closed due to high levels of smoke and to avoid the area where possible.
Four fire engines and a bulk water tanker were sent to the scene.

CDDFRS Group Manager Dan Wootton said: “We were called at 2.43am this morning (Thursday), to a report of a large fire at The Old Brickworks on Tanfield Lea Industrial Estate, Stanley.
“Four fire engines and the bulk water tanker are at the scene and crews have been working through the night to tackle the fire.
“We expect to be in the area for some time.
“We ask that businesses and properties in the area keep their doors and windows closed due to the level of smoke and ask people to avoid the area if possible.”
