A walker has been seriously injured after slipping at the summit of Roseberry Topping and falling 30 metres onto rocks.
Police, ambulance, and mountain rescue teams swarmed the popular beauty spot on Sunday after a 43-year-old fell from the peak of the hill at around 6.41pm.
Paramedics from North East Ambulance Service and crews from the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) helped the man before an air ambulance landed at the scene.
The helicopter then airlifted the man to the James Cook University Hospital, in Middlesbrough - with Cleveland Police confirming he suffered serious injuries.
His current condition is not known.
As previously reported, GNAAS sent its Cumbria air ambulance to the scene due to the rural location of the incident, landing at around 8pm and airlifting the man to hospital in six minutes.
Pictures from the scene showed the helicopter hovering over the top of the hill, while a row of 999 vehicles waited at the entrance to the walking route.
Officers from Cleveland Police and North Yorkshire Police both attended, along with volunteers from Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, and provided initial medical attention.
Chief Inspector Tom Sewell of Redcar and Cleveland Police has since urged visitors at the attraction to be careful when at the top of the cliff.
He said: “Please be mindful of the dangers when walking to the top of Roseberry Topping. The edge at the top of the cliff has an extremely steep drop leading to jagged rocks beneath.
"Try to enjoy the views without stepping too close to the edge to ensure that everyone stays safe.”
A NEAS spokesperson said: "We were called to an incident on Roseberry Topping at Aireyholme Farm in Middlesbrough on Sunday, April 27 at 6.41pm.
“We dispatched two ambulance crews and were supported by our colleagues at Great North Air Ambulance Service. One patient was taken to hospital."
A Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team spokesperson said: “I can confirm that the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were in attendance at the incident on Roseberry Topping to provide assistance to GNAAS and NEAS.
“A person had fallen from the summit. The team transferred the person from the casualty site to the air ambulance located further down the hill.”
A GNAAS spokesperson said: "Our critical care team was activated at 6.44pm to reports of a fall at Roseberry Topping.
"We had a paramedic and doctor respond on a critical care car from our North East base and they arrived on scene at 7.04pm.
"Our team worked alongside the North East Ambulance Service and Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team to assess and treat a patient.
"Due to the rural location, our Cumbria team was requested to attend in their aircraft and they arrived on scene at 8pm. The patient was airlifted to hospital in six minutes."
