Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been admitted to hospital and will miss the club's game against Manchester United on Sunday.
In a statement, the club confirmed Howe had suffered an 'illness' and had been taken to hospital on Friday, April 11.
The Carabao Cup-winning manager had missed the pre-match press conference earlier in the week, with assistant Jason Tindall speaking to the press instead.
A club spokesperson said: "Everyone at Newcastle United extends their best wishes to Eddie for a speedy recovery, and further updates will follow in due course."
Howe had been left 'bedridden' after feeling ill for 'a number of days, ' Tindall said on Friday, as he predicted that the manager would be back on the touchline ahead of the club's Sunday game against Manchester United.

The Magpies’ head coach was admitted to hospital late on Friday evening having felt unwell for a number of days.

"We've been in daily contact -probably three or four times a day," Tindall said.
"So it's not affected any of the preparations, up until now."
Howe became the first Newcastle manager to lift a domestic trophy in 70 years after the club beat Liverpool 2-1 to win the Carabao Cup last month.
His impact on the team was such that a hotel-length banner of him was unveiled during the club's trophy parade past St James' Park - something he said made him 'very emotional.'

Newcastle face Manchester United on Sunday in a home fixture, with the Magpies looking to capitalise on their good run of form, which has seen them win both games since the cup final.
Howe's absence on the touchline will not be the first, as the popular leadership figure actually missed his first game in charge of the club after contracting Covid before the game.
It meant he had to wait to make his first appearance as Newcastle manager after replacing Steve Bruce in 2021.
