An unexploded 'World War Two bomb' was recovered at a house in the North East today as neighbours were asked to evacuate their homes.

The device, suspected to be from the time-period of the Second World War, was found at a house on Milton Road in Hartlepool on April 12 as police officers called in a bomb squad to the address.

Local residents were advised to either evacuate their property or to remain inside and away from the windows.

Members of the police's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team then removed the bomb from the home and will undertake a 'controlled explosion' to destroy the device.
