Ferryhill woman used bank card taken in Chilton burglary to gain £250

The warning was given to Lillian Clare Davies after she pleaded guilty to charges of burglary and fraud by false representation.

She was also before the court for two previous fraudulent uses of a stolen bank card.

Appearing at a Durham Crown Court plea hearing, the 40-year-old defendant admitted committing the burglary at a residential address in Chilton, from where she took two purses, on February 14 this year.

(Image: Google Street View) She also admitted the fraud charge, by using a bank card stolen from the householder at the burgled property to withdraw £250 on the same day.

Davies was also before the court on a committal for sentence having previously also admitted fraudulent use of a stolen bank card, on August 7, 2023, and June 4, 2024.

The case was adjourned until next month for sentence to allow for the preparation of a background Probation Service report on the defendant.

The judge bailed Davies, of Chestnut Avenue, Ferryhill, to return to court for the sentencing hearing, on Thursday May 8.
