Man arrested after armed police called to Stockton

Multiple armed police attended Rottingdean Close in Roseworth, Stockton, following reports of a disturbance.

On Rudyard Avenue, armed officers from five police vehicles were seen patrolling the street as others were pictured searching nearby areas just before 9am.

(Image: TERRY BLACKBURN) Police have now confirmed that a 42-year-old man was arrested on Redhill Road on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 8am on Sunday 30 March police were called to a disturbance outside a property on Rottingdean Close in Roseworth with a man armed with a machete.

"Officers, including armed response, were deployed to the area to locate him. A 42-year-old man was arrested on Redhill Road on suspicion of criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.

"He is currently in police custody for questioning. Anyone who has information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101 quoting reference number 055198."
