A main street in Durham city centre has been flooded due to a burst water main this morning, affecting 3,000 homes and closing businesses.
The road is closed to cars while teams address the issue, but there is no timescale for when the fix will be complete.
Northumbrian Water have arranged for a team to come out and investigate the leak.
Pictures show that the area has been fenced off while the issue is addressed with both Bells Fish and Chips and Saddler Street Greggs erecting notices to say they are closed.
Durham Constabulary have been spotted at the scene with a police car parked up nearby.
Northumbria Water has warned that water supplies could be affected.

A Northumbria Water spokesperson said: "Leak found in Saddler Street.
"We'll arrange for a team to come out to the reported leak and investigate.
"Investigation can take some time, depending on where the leak is and how severe it is."
