A man was arrested as he got off a ferry in France on suspicion of murdering Middlesbrough man Jordan Hogg.
The 28-year-old was arrested on the continent yesterday (Wednesday, March 5) and faces extradition to be questioned over the fatal stabbing of Mr Hogg, also 28.
The ‘loving, funny’ dad died on Fonteyn Court in Hemlington on Friday (February 28) after an incident in the early hours of the morning.
Cleveland Police said: “He was stopped by law enforcement as he got off a ferry and is currently in custody while extradition proceedings begin to bring him back to Teesside where he will be questioned on suspicion of murder.
“Detectives from our Homicide and Enquiry Team alongside other departments continue to work behind the scenes to identify and seek individuals suspected of being involved in the 28-year-olds death.”
Three people have so far been charged with murder.
Michael Charville, 43, of no fixed address, Oliver Connelly, 27, of Elmhurst Gardens in Middlesbrough, and a 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, all appeared at Teesside Crown Court this morning (Thursday, March 6) and were remanded in custody.
Charville is charged with murder and possession of a bladed article, while Connelly is charged with murder and possession of an offensive weapon and the 17-year-old is charged with murder and with possession of an offensive weapon.
Jordan suffered serious injuries and died despite the efforts of medics.
His family said previously in a statement: “We can’t put into words how deeply devastated our family and friends are, that Jordan has been so cruelly taken away from us.
“His absence has left a huge void in our hearts. Life just won’t be the same without him. Jordan was a funny, loving, special young man who lit up any room he walked into and was loved by everyone who knew him.

“We will keep his memory alive, ensuring he will never be forgotten.”
A 19-year-old woman was previously also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Cleveland Police remain in the area to reassure local residents following the alleged murder. Officers are holding walk-ins at the Viewley Centre in Hemlington tomorrow (March 7) for the public to bring in information or raise their concerns.
