A pedestrian is in a "stable" condition in hospital after being hit by a car on a major road.
The 48-year-old pedestrian from Redcar was involved in a crash with a grey Honda Civic at around 6.30pm last night (March 4) on Trunk Road in Middlesbrough - prompting a road closure.
Emergency services including police, the ambulance service and Great North Air Ambulance service were all called to the scene and a patient was transported to hospital with a number of injuries.
A police statement reads: "Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a collision on Trunk Road in Middlesbrough.
"The incident happened around 6:20pm on Tuesday 4th March when a grey Honda Civic was in collision with a pedestrian.
"The vehicle stopped at the scene and the pedestrian was assisted by members of the public.
"Officers would like to speak to any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage who hasn’t already contacted police.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, quoting reference number SE25038168."

A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a road traffic incident involving a car and a pedestrian at 6.32pm this evening, on Trunk Road, Middlesbrough.
"We dispatched a double crewed ambulance, clinical team leader, and officer and were supported by the medical car from Great North Air Ambulance Service.
"One patient was take to James Cook Hospital with a doctor on board."
Pictures taken at the scene by photographer Terry Blackburn show a police car stationed on the road which has been blocked off by cones. A 'road ahead closed' was placed at the scene.
The road has now reopened.
