Thai green curry, steaks, and wagyu beef burgers are on the menu for foodies this week as Teesside Restaurant Week returns.

The popular initiative - which sees diners enjoy some of Teesside’s best restaurants for £20 or less per head - is returning to the region from today, Monday, March 3.

The event, which is run by James Watson of hospitality business consultancy Over Ice, takes place four times a year, with a string of big-name businesses taking part.

Some of the venues are doing three courses for just £20 - while others are doing two - with the likes of Tomahawk Steakhouse, Bazaar Restaurant in Middlesbrough, and Chapters Deli in Stokesley all signed up to take part this time round.

James said it was more important than ever, amid a tricky climate with escalating operational costs and reduced business rates relief.

He told The Northern Echo: "It’s so important to get out and support the Teesside hospitality sector, and utilise any of these fantastic bistros, restaurants, and gastro pubs we have on Teesside.

"Its a chance to see the offering from these restaurants at a snippet of the price… the ethos behind the project is very simple - bringing new business into Teesside, keeping what we have, and maintaining people in jobs in the domino effect.

"So get out there and enjoy yourself at the fantastic places - it all helps."
