A busy Yarm roundabout is set to be taken over by major works for the next four months.
Gas, electric and drainage networks are being upgraded in the area around the Crossways roundabout, near the Shell Garage, from Monday, March 3.
The works are being carried out in phases, first starting on the A67 (south) towards Kirklevington and working north towards the roundabout.
It comes as construction continues on the new Duchy Homes estate Hall Wood Meadows, which will soon see a range of three bed, four bed, and five bed homes built across 42 acres.
Traffic passing through the area will be mainly controlled by temporary traffic lights - but road closures will be necessary when works get closer to the roundabout junction.
Early phase works start from today with the excavation on the verge of the carriageway, which will see temporary traffic lights brought in.
These will be manually controlled at peak times.
The works will then progress towards the roundabout later this month and into April, with the adjacent footpath and bus stops being temporarily closed.
A replacement surfaced footpath will be provided, which will route via the school field.
The roundabout will be controlled by temporary traffic lights during two Sundays - March 30 and April 6 - to allow excavation work within the A1044 Green Lane and A67 Thirsk Road.
During mid-April, the A67 works will advance to a location that “cannot be controlled by temporary traffic lights alone due to the proximity of the work zone to the roundabout”.
A southbound road closure will therefore be put in place between April 12 and 27, with diversions being via the Parkway Interchange near Ingleby Barwick.
The final phase of work will be at the new residential development access on the A67 south.
Works to deliver the access will take place between April 28 and July 18, and will be controlled by temporary traffic lights outside of peak hours.
Final resurfacing works will require a full road closure between July 19 from 7pm until July 20 at 11pm.
A document sent to nearby Yarm residents from Eddisons, Northern Powergrid, and Duchy Homes says several alternative construction methods were considered for the works.
This included only working outside of peak hours - but this would have extended the completion date to November 2025.

It also said using temporary traffic lights only would “not be able to operate with sufficient capacity”, according to traffic modelling.
The document adds that works will be completed “as quickly and as safely as possible” and has been designed around the school Easter break when traffic flows are lower.
Traffic management will be reduced during the school exam periods (May 6 to June 25) to minimise disruption.
