Here at The Northern Echo, we're on the hunt for the best hairdresser in Darlington and County Durham - and in that spirit, we've been speaking to all ten of our finalists.

Today we're featuring Kim's Hair which can be found on Darlington Road, Ferryhill.

Owner Kim Lowe, 37, launched the business five years ago - just before the UK was locked down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But since then, shes been able to build up a loyal group of clients and the salon is doing well.

She told The Northern Echo: "The best part about my job is really the transformations you can create and the crack you can have with clients.

"It feels amazing to have been nominated - we were blown away when we got the phone call."

Now, it's up to you to decide who will take home the title this year by voting via a coupon printed in The Northern Echo.

Voting slips will run in the paper until March 1.

Then, the final totals will be tallied and our winner will be crowned.

Here's the full list of our 10 finalists:

  • Bowe Hair & Scalp Clinic (Hallview Grove, Darlington, DL3 9DN)
  • Clique (17 Parsons Court, Newton Aycliffe, DL5 6ZE)

"That's why we’re delighted to launch our search for the best hairdresser or barber to help put them on the map and celebrate all that they do.

"Nominations are open now and we’ll be bringing you updates on those shortlisted in our competition – so keep an eye out to see if your favourite is featured and for more information on how to vote."
