A Darlington DJ who has spun the decks alongside the likes of Boy George and KKlass is bringing a new daytime clubbing event to the town.
Craig Chisman, who has been playing since the 1980s, is launching ‘Daytime Disco’, a new event when punters can enjoy a day of clubbing and be back in bed by 10pm.
The former Carmel College student wanted to host the event due to the surge of daytime partying, which he brands as the “biggest single shift in clubbing since the 90s”.
Featuring “amazing production, the biggest hits from back in the day, and a few surprises”, he is now inviting Darlington residents to join him on the dancefloor at the Dolphin Centre on Saturday, May 31, for the event.
The 52-year-old told The Northern Echo: “It’s an event aimed at people over the age of 30. There are going to be video walls, pyrotechnics, dancers, and even magicians in the queue!

“It is going to be between 5pm and 9pm - and there are also going to be a few surprises.
“Daytime clubbing is the single biggest shift in club life since the 1990s, afternoon clubbing seems to be the thing now.
“Being able to go out early and still be home before midnight works for so many people.”
Some of the town’s original DJ’s are involved in the event from the likes of the gone but not forgotten Mardi Gras, Club 2K, and Yates’s.
There are hopes it could continue to expand both in Darlington and beyond - with tickets already flying for the upcoming party in May.
Craig first started off in the industry at just 16-years-old, playing wedding and birthdays in function rooms across the North East.

By the mid 90s he was playing commercial dance, house and old school party classics four to five nights a week, in the likes of Perrys and Club2K.
He secured a residency at the legendary Tall Trees (Club M), in Yarm, which has since been demolished, and then played two seasons in Majorca before returning for a seven-year residency at Club Amadeus, in Northallerton.
After a short break, he returned in 2024 with fresh productions and remixes signed to Love 2 Be and Cleveland City Recordings.
Next year is looking big for Craig too - with a string of dates in Ibiza locked down.
