Police investigating break in at Cockerton, Darlington Co-op

Officers from Durham Constabulary were called to Co-op in Cockerton, Darlington, at around 1.10am, following reports of a break-in at the store.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called at around 1.05am today (February 10) following a break-in at the Co-op store in Cockerton, Darlington.

Images from the scene on Monday morning show a police cordon in place and a police officer standing guard at the shop in the alleyway between Cockerton Green and Cockerton Car Park.

In other images, shards of glass and a broken window at the bottom of a door can be seen. 

Staff could also be seen inside the shop, but the Co-op has made the decision to close temporarily. 

The co-op has been contacted for a comment and for clarity on how long the shop will be closed.
