Former Tomahawk Steakhouse in Darlington hits the market

The popular chain, which has locations in Potto, Yarm, Newcastle, and further afield, announced in July that it had closed its venue at the DL1 leisure complex. 

Tomahawk had been based at the facility for several years when the news was announced. It was located between the now-closed Chinese Buffet and the Estabulo restaurant. 

Owner Howard Eggleston told The Northern Echo at the time that the decision was made due to a combination of factors, including “zero footfall”, security issues, and a lack of support. 

But now, the 3,664 sq ft partially-fitted unit has gone on the rental market, with a price tag of £55,000 per annum.

A listing online from property consultants wsb states: "The subject unit is available immediately and is in a fitted out condition suitable for a bar, restaurant or other leisure based operation.

"It sits adjacent to Estabulo on the upper floor level with frontage to the inner ring road."

Since the closure in July, the unit has remained vacant, with previous pictures showing the inside of the stripped-out venue.

A to-let sign has been placed on the front of the unit since then, with those interested asked to enquire on the wsb website.

Business rates have been advertised at £27,846 per annum while the service charge has been set at £28,926.46 per annum.

DL1 remains home to a string of big-name brands, anchored by a nine-screen Vue Cinema and 80-bed Premier Inn hotel. 

Estabulo, Nando's, Bella Italia, Greene King and Subway also have venues around the bottom of the 90,000 sqft leisure scheme.
