A thug who got into a drunken fight and left his victim covered in blood outside a pub has landed himself in court.
Kal Gatley started brawling with the man inside the toilets of the Green Tree public house before continuing the attack outside the premises in Middlesbrough town centre.
Teesside Crown Court heard how there was some ill-feeling between the pair before the violence erupted on November 4, 2022.
The 37-year-old was witnessed delivering several blows to his victim while the landlord was pleading with him to stop the assault, said Paul Abrahams, prosecuting.
“The landlord followed the complainant outside as he was concerned for his safety,” he said.
“He saw the defendant standing in a boxing stance before running towards the complainant who had his hands up protecting his face.
“He has hit him around eight times and he fell to the floor – he was shouting ‘please stop’ there is too much blood.”
Gatley, of Queens Terrace, Stockton, pleaded guilty to inflicting actual bodily harm on his victim.
Victoria Lamballe, mitigating, said her client had not been involved in any further violence since his arrest more than two years ago.

Judge Jonathan Carroll sentenced the defendant to seven months and two weeks in prison suspended for two years after he attacked his victim outside the pub.
He added: “There was conflict between you and the complainant and you both, in effect, voluntarily entered into a fight with each other inside the toilets.
“However, you accept that unlawfully, you continued the fight outside, when numerous punches were delivered.”
Gatley was also ordered to carry out 240 hours of unpaid work, observe 120 days on an alcohol abstinence monitoring order and attend 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days.
