A woman has died after police were called to a Newcastle home on Christmas Day.

Emergency services attended Kenton Road, in the Coxlodge area of the city, on Wednesday (December 25) after a report of concern for the welfare of a woman.

Northumbria Police confirmed that a woman in her 40s was sadly pronounced dead shortly after officers arrived at the scene.

Her next of kin have been informed.

There are believed to be no suspicious circumstances concerning the woman’s death and a report has been prepared for the Coroner.
