Dramatic images of a car bursting into flames near the A1(M) in County Durham have been revealed, as the emergency services confirm their response to the incident.
The images, which were taken at around 2.45pm on Friday (December 6) near the A688 in Bowburn, show the car engulfed in flames while other vehicles are parked in a car park nearby.
The incident, which happened close to Greggs, also saw black smoke rise towards the A688 and the A1(M), as firefighters and police quickly responded to the fire.

"Officers assisted at the scene with traffic.
"Nobody was injured in the incident and recovery of the vehicle was arranged."

The County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service (CDDFRS) also attended, with a spokesperson for the fire service saying: "We were called at 2.51pm on Friday, December 6 to a car fire on the A688 in Bowburn.
“One fire engine from Spennymoore Fire Station attended and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to put out the fire before the incident was handed over to the police.
“The crew left the scene at 3.57pm.”
