The North East can expect bright spells, heavy showers, and thunder today (June 18).
The forecast has predicted a bright start with scattering of heavy showers for Darlington and the surrounding areas this morning.
It also confirmed thunder is likely this afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to remain near average, but should cool off along the coast.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “Some bright spells to start but scattered heavy showers developing, especially inland and across the Pennines, with thunder likely by afternoon. “Temperatures near average but feeling cooler along the coast with an onshore breeze.”
There will be a maximum temperature of 16 °C today, with the region expecting a minimum temperature of 7 °C tonight.
