A beach in the North East known for its “mighty swathe” of soft sand has been revealed among the best in the UK that are dog-friendly.
Bamburgh Beach near Alnwick in Northumberland featured in one of The Guardian’s latest travel guides by author Lotte Gross and was praised for having “ample space for dogs to run – even in the height of summer”.
Some beaches across the region have strict rules imposed throughout the warmer months of the year, which means your furry pals aren’t always welcome to paddle during peak season.
But not at Bamburgh, where there’s also plenty of grassy dunes for your dogs to explore.

Picture soft golden sand, grand castle in the background, islands in the foreground, quiet and peaceful, non commercial but conveniences 5 mins walk, child friendly and dog friendly! What more could you ask for (warm water? No place is perfect!)
