More big-name brands are expected to arrive at a retail park that has already got the signatures of Sainsbury's, Burger King and Starbucks.

It was announced earlier this year that Northumberland Estates had obtained planning permission for 52,000 sq ft of retail space and a 45,000 sq ft trade park within Wynyard Business Park in Stockton.

The first phase of development is expected to start in May 2024 with the site set to be fully operational by May 2025.

Already, deals with Sainsbury's, Burger King and Starbucks have been signed - and they are expected to be the first tenants at Wynyard Business Park.

However, the owners of the site have now confirmed that more big-name brands are set to follow suit - after phase two of the project was announced, which has enough space for five more units.

In plans for the Wynyard Retail Park site, two large units and three smaller units can be seen on the Northumberland Estates 'masterplan'.

In the same document, there is also a part of the plans, which says: "Expression of interest are invited for proposed phase 2 which will provide an additional 66,000 sq.ft. (6,183 sq.m.) of retail."

This  Wynyard Business Park will join a trade park, which has also gained planning permission, as well as joining other big names nearby, which include Amazon and Clipper.

Businesses that have already signed a deal with Wynyard Retail Park have expressed their delight at moving into the site soon.

Patrick Dunne, Sainsbury’s Property Director, said: “We’re delighted to confirm that we’re bringing a brand new Sainsbury’s supermarket to Wynyard Business Park, representing a major investment in the region and creating new jobs.
