Four suspected burglars have been arrested following a police pursuit through a North East town.

The suspects, who are alleged to have broken into a business premises in North Yorkshire were detained following a pursuit in the Cleveland area.

A Cleveland Police spokesperson said: "As part of an investigation into a burglary at a business premises in Stokesley, reported in the early hours of June 6, North Yorkshire Police officers identified a vehicle they believed to be involved in the burglary.

"At around 5.20am on 7 June, the vehicle was seen travelling through the Cleveland area.

The Northern Echo:

"It was then followed by officers from North Yorkshire Police and Cleveland Police who intercepted it in Middlesbrough centre at around 5.30am."

The occupants of the vehicle, four men aged 18, 20, 21, 32, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and taken into Cleveland Police’s custody.

They remain in custody at this time and the investigation into the burglary is ongoing.
