British Transport Police have released images of men they would like to trace following an alleged assault on a train between York and Darlington. 

Detectives are investigating a report of an assault made on board a TransPennine Express last month (May).

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "At around 5.05pm on May 4, officers received reports of a group of men acting aggressively towards a group of women, before throwing an item which hit one of the women in the head.The Northern Echo: Police would like to trace these men following an alleged assault on a train between York and

"They then left the train at Darlington.

"Officers believe the men in the CCTV images may have information that could help their investigation."
